Job Summary:

The Level 2 Network Engineer designs, implements, maintains, and troubleshoots network infrastructure. This role requires extensive knowledge of networking protocols, security, Cisco technologies, and ideally, Microsoft networking and cloud services, to ensure high network availability, performance, and security.

Core Responsibilities:

● Network Operations & Maintenance: Proactively monitor, maintain, and manage network performance, including routine tasks like upgrades and patching, and actively resolve issues to minimize downtime.

● Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Conduct in-depth analysis and resolution of complex network problems across Cisco and Microsoft environments, including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless, and participate in on-call support.

● Network Design & Implementation: Assist in designing and deploying network enhancements, configuring Cisco devices (routers, switches, firewalls, WAPs), and managing network settings on Windows Servers (DNS, DHCP, NPS) and cloud platforms like Azure.

● Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce network security policies, conduct audits, manage firewall configurations (Cisco and Windows Firewall), and ensure compliance with security standards.

● Project Support & Documentation: Contribute technical expertise to network-related projects from start to finish, and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date network documentation.

● Collaboration & Mentorship: Work effectively with other IT teams and vendors, and provide technical guidance to junior network staff.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,Telecommunications Engineering or a related field.

● Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification is mandatory.

● Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on enterprise-level network infrastructure.

● Proven experience with Cisco routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VLANs).

● Solid understanding and practical experience with firewall technologies (Cisco ASA/Firepower preferred) and VPNs (IPsec, SSL VPN).

● Familiarity with network configuration and troubleshooting on Windows Server environments (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NPS, RRAS).

● Experience with Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.

● Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).

● Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.

● Experience with network troubleshooting methodologies and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark).

● Knowledge of VoIP and Quality of Service (QoS) implementation is a plus.

● Experience with cloud networking concepts, particularly with Microsoft Azure networking components (e.g., VNets, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Network Security Groups), or connectivity to Microsoft 365 services, is a significant advantage.
